DILLINGHAM RANCH

From its famous beaches to its grassy fields, Dillingham Ranch provides a unique setting for special occasions such as weddings, family gatherings, yoga retreats and corporate events.

This incredibly beautiful and serene property represents many facets of Hawaii and provides inspiration in a variety of ways. To nature lovers, it is paradise… to the romantic, it is a fabulous wedding locale… to the ill or stressed, it is a rejuvenating getaway… to equestrians, it is the birthplace of Hawaiian polo… to the adventurous, it is a playground… to ohana, it is a gathering place.

Dillingham Ranch is a historic 2,700 acre property located in Mokuleia on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Located near the historic surf town of Haleiwa, this one-of-a-kind destination includes approximately 19 acres of oceanfront land and extends to the ridge line adjacent to the Mokuleia Forest Reserve and the Waianae Mountains, offering views of Kaena Point and the world famous surfing beaches of the North Shore.

This spectacular estate consists of famous polo grounds, a premiere equestrian center and the largest coconut tree grove in Hawaii. The heart of the property is Dillingham Lodge, commonly referred to as the “Big House,” which includes an elegant, 3,000 square foot great room with hardwood floors and fireplace, a 700 square foot professional grade kitchen and eight bedrooms divided into two wings.

Dillingham Ranch is a rare property, offering all of the charms and essence of Hawaii, from white sandy beaches to mountain terrain and acres of open green space scattered with coconut trees, monkey pods and rare plant species indigenous to Hawaii. Peacocks and ducks flutter around the grounds while horses and cows graze in the fields. Visitors can enjoy horseback riding, surfing, hiking and parasailing while experiencing local culture and history, all in one truly special place.

Established in 1897, Dillingham Ranch is an extraordinary place enriched with history. The original piece of land was acquired by Benjamin Franklin Dillingham, who was the first officer on a clipper ship that docked in Honolulu in 1865. While ashore, he suffered a broken leg in a horseback riding accident and remained in Hawaii thereafter, taking a job at a hardware store and eventually becoming Hawaii’s first railroad tycoon.

Dillingham’s son, Walter Dillingham, built Dillingham Lodge with the help of his siblings, Harold and Marion, in 1917. Known as “Hawaii’s greatest builder,” Walter Dillingham is credited with shaping Dillingham Ranch into what it is today as well as changing the entire O’ahu landscape. His accomplishments include converting 1,000 acres of swamp land into the famous Waikiki Beach, dredging Pearl Harbor and building its drydocks, building Ala Moana Park and Ala Moana Center, as well as creating Rodgers Field, which is now known as Honolulu International Airport.

Dillingham Ranch has also hosted cattlemen, ranchers and sportsmen. Notable visitors to Dillingham Ranch have included Noel Coward, who authored A Room With A View while sitting on the lanai, Prince Hussein of Jordan, the Marquis of Waterford, Eva Gabor and Ginger Baker.

Additionally, Prince Charles, Major Ronald Ferguson, General George S. Patton and various international polo stars, among others, have competed on the polo field.
